LIBRARY, INFORMATION AND ARCHIVE SERVICES ASSISTANT APPRENTICE (Level 3)

Fixed Term Training contracts for 24 months 

22 Hours per week

Rates of pay:
23 or over - £10,232 per annum 
21-22- £9601 per annum 
18-20 - £7533 per annum 
<18 - £5305 per annum 


Located in different Libraries within the borough Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council has a fantastic development opportunities for Library, Information and Archive Services Assistant apprentice at level 3.

As an apprentice you will become a key member of the council and will assist in the provision of a front line library service, including counter duties, maintenance of stock, dealing with enquiries and assisting members of the public in our computer learning centres. You may also be required to assist in the provision of reference, local studies and Bibliographical services and provide administrative support to colleagues within the council.

The successful candidate will receive on the job training and will complete a Level 3 in Library, Information and Archive Services Apprenticeship.  Working alongside experienced staff you will build up knowledge and develop many transferable skills.  

It would be advantageous to have previous experience of dealing with the public, good communication skills and an ability to interact with customers. You will also have the ability to converse at ease with service users/customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.

You should be well organised, flexible; self-motivated and have confidence in dealing with people.  You must be I.T. literate and familiar with a “Windows” environment is also essential.

The actual hours of work are variable within the period 8.30am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 3.00pm Saturday. 

Please note this role is only open to applicants who are not studying for or hold an Apprenticeship or any equivalent qualification at the same level or higher in the field applied for.
