The role
Senior Practitioner - Duty and Assessment and Senior Practitioner - Safeguarding and Support (please indicate your preference within your application form)
 
Tameside Children’s Social Care have an exciting opportunity for Senior Practitioners in both our Duty and Assessment Teams and Safeguarding and Support Teams, ideal for qualified and experienced social workers who are looking to take the next step in their career.
 
You will contribute to ensuring timely assessment and intervention for our children, achieving this through professional and reflective supervision, supporting staff learning and development, and ensuring the production of high quality work to improve the outcomes for our children. 
 
The Senior Practitioner role is the first step on the management ladder. You will hold a small caseload of complex cases whilst supporting the Team Manager in improving the service delivery to the children open for assessment, intervention, and support, by providing a mentoring and coaching role for Social Workers.
 
You will support the leadership of the team and service through the provision of mentoring, coaching, support and practice expertise to other less experienced team members, supporting in their professional development and progression. You will take responsibility under the direction of the team manager for the support of our ASYE and student social workers, by providing opportunities for group supervision and reflective learning opportunity though co-working and the sharing of best practice examples. 
 
About you
We are looking for candidates with substantive previous experience of working with children and their families in a statutory social care environment. You will need to have good knowledge of legislation and professional practice, and will have the opportunity to work with children and families alongside management responsibilities, such as, chairing meetings and supervising and supporting social workers. 
Tameside children social care has adopted a strengths based Signs of Safety model of practice, and you will have a team of social workers with manageable caseload to facilitate reflective practice.
