The role
Applications are invited for the post of Scrutiny Manager, a crucial role overseeing a statutory function of the Council to support Elected Members to hold the executive to account and review key areas of work in the Council.
 
Taking ideas of Members, colleagues and the Community, the post-holder will develop practical and specific scoping documents to support an effective scrutiny review, which will be delivered using evidence that is turned into sound, clear reports with recommendations that can lead to real improvements in how the Council delivers to its community.
 
About you
You will be a strong self-starter, able to work alone, with a good understanding of local government and current issues in Tameside. You should be able to give sound, clear advice on complex issues with a high degree of political sensitivity. You should be able to act at pace and work effectively with elected members, senior officers within the Council and external stakeholders.
 
You will be able to spot key issues, develop and deliver reviews using project management skills, analyse both quantitative and qualitative evidence and present reasoned findings in a clear and well-structured way.
