Vehicle/Plant Fitter (MOT Testing)

Contract Type: Permanent
 
Salary: Grade F. SCP 17 £28,770 – SCP 22 £31,364 - plus pension, continuing training, tool allowance and enhanced rates where shift pattern applicable
 
This post currently attracts a discretionary market supplement up to a maximum of £2,594 per annum, in accordance with the Council’s Market Forces Scheme and is subject to annual review.
 
Hours: 36 Hours per Week over 3 days (Wed-Fri) plus additional contracted hours during November to March
 
Base Location: Tame Street Depot, Tame Street, Stalybridge, SK15 1ST 
 
Closing Date: Tuesday 14th May 2024

The Role
Based at Tame Street, Stalybridge, you will be an enthusiastic and talented HGV/light vehicle  mechanic with the drive to keep our Transport Fleet on the move.
 
This is an opportunity to utilise, and further develop your existing skills carrying out MOTs and taxi compliance tests, during periods of availability you will carry out routine maintenance, testing, diagnostic and repair work to our large fleet of HGV’s, light vehicles, plant and specialist equipment.
 
About You
You should be organised, have good written and oral communication skills, be customer focused, hold a current driving licence (LGV Category C desirable) and trained to NVQ Level 3/City &Guilds (or equivalent) in a Heavy Vehicle Maintenance/Repair discipline. If you’re from a light vehicle or agricultural background, you are encouraged to apply. Training will be given to the right candidate.
