Shared Lives Adult Carer (self-employed)

Competitive allowances (Allowance based on number of Adults in placement and type of support provided)

Are you looking for a truly rewarding and meaningful role where you can really make a difference?

If you are over 18, have spare time or an available bedroom, and are passionate about working with Adults and helping them develop, the available caring roles could be ideal for you. Some of the benefits of supporting an adult for Tameside Council include:
- Competitive allowances;
- A comprehensive training programme;
- Highly experienced local support and a dedicated social worker;
- A network of friendly carers to further support you in your role;
- The ability to create a long term placement, a family home;
- A role where you can truly make a difference to a vulnerable adult’s life.

At Tameside Council we are actively recruiting carers who can support adults who require day support, respite and long term placements. We are looking for local carers from all backgrounds, who can support vulnerable adults with varying needs.

Service users using Shared Lives have a range of social needs – they may be: older persons, have physical difficulties, mental health issues or learning disabilities.

With your support, vulnerable adults have the opportunity to live with or share their daily lives with the carer. This can be through day support in the community, respite or a long term placement in a family home.

We need carers for adults over 18 years of age, you may have previous experience in a social care sector, experience supporting family or friends, or maybe you have never worked with vulnerable adults before.

If you can help provide support to an adult, we would like to speak with you. We particularly welcome applications from those who have space for possible respite placements or are able to provide long term placements within your home.

This role is subject to an Enhanced Adults DBS check, and references will be sought.

We provide our carers with an excellent training, support and financial expenses, and will help guide them through the assessment process/ relevant training and work with them as a team to ensure the needs of the carer and the vulnerable adult are met.

If you think you could make a difference, chat to our friendly team today on 0161 342 5151 or email sharedlives@tameside.gov.uk and we will get back to you within 7 working days.
